Turduckens hit the Beach

Group Picture

24th Jan 09 - What do the Turduckens do when they know the weather of late has been hot hot hot and they just want to do something different for a change?
They hit the beach of coz and do what they always do best - play Beach Touch!

Beach Touch

Break under the shade

We had a super duper turn out, approx 26 people showing up - from the regulars, the newbies, the show up only once a year kind and the ones who came only because they found out we were going to the beach! *buggers* Whatever the case, I must say the outing which literally took 'months' to plan due to heaps of endless procrastination and postponements turned out to be a huge success indeed! Apart from the awesome turnout, the weather was great and the atmosphere was swell!

Rocking up in the usual late fashion from the supposed meeting time, we literally conquered a corner of the entire Siloso Beach right in the heart of Sentosa. Right from the moment we stepped foot onto the beach, the cones were strewned across creating our playing grid. A couple of rounds later and half of us were panting like dogs. Beach touch really kills (in a good way)... and it's quite a sight coz we were all on out twinkie toes as the sand was scorching hot! *bloody hell* Felt as if the soles of your feet were blistering!

Cheese!

Beach touch ain't as easy as it looks! The intensity is much higher and the changeover much faster as well. Not to mention, running on sand makes a whole lot of difference too! The game pretty much goes about like the normal touch rugby, just that this time round, only 5 players (3 attackers and 2 defenders) are on the grid at any one time. Same rules of 5 touches, and backing 5 steps apply. However, once your team changes to pay attack or defence, the numbers on that side change accordingly to the 3 - 2 format. So yea, go try it if you have yet too!

The girlies

Who says we Turduckens only enjoy the game of touch? After some light snacks and refreshments we headed to cool ourselves in the water. Some fooling around from our resident jokers and the guys oogling at bikini clad chics.... we continued our fun filled day with Captain's Ball in the water. David and Munir were hilarious! Everyone was flipping and laughing their guts out!

The girlies sun tanning the forgotten arms

Durian Head - Yanhe

I think everyone had a really great time. At least I speak for myself. Think I got too carried away and never got down to applying my second layer of sunblock.... now I'm paying, I'm freaking peeling! *ugly* We'll definitely do it again sometime, not so soon though! Looking forward to tomorrow's touch session!

Signing off for now.... Happy Lunar New Year to one and all!

About Us.

ABOUT US.

Turkey? Duck? Chicken? All of the above! And we like vegetables too!

NO, REALLY.

Oh, alright. We are a group of zany people from various walks of life who enjoy playing Touch Rugby in Singapore, at a recreational/social level.

Our games and training sessions are pitched at beginners/mid-level players, so anyone who hasn't played in a while or who might want to try playing touch for the first time will find joining us a good first opportunity.

We employ various cutting-edge teaching pedagogies to bring the game to you, the most important of which is our very wacky sense of humour, and our love for social interaction. If you don't know what we're talking about, no worries - just join us and you'll see!

We love to make new friends - young or old; bald or hairy; turkey, duck or chicken (just kidding, cos we have vegetarians among us) - so please make yourself free and join us for a fun Saturday morning of healthy running, touching and lunch after that.
